Sri Lankan citizen killed in Sialkot, Pakistan: 6 accused sentenced to death and 9 to life imprisonment

  An anti-terrorism court has ruled in the case of burning and murder of Sri Lankan citizen Prantha Kumar in Sialkot.

An anti-terrorism court sentenced six convicts to death and nine to life in prison in a ruling on Monday evening.
According to Lahore-based Urdu News correspondent Rai Shahnawaz, the verdict was handed down by Judge Natasha Naseem of Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

An anti-terrorism court has ruled in the case of burning and murder of Sri Lankan citizen Prantha Kumar in Sialkot.
An anti-terrorism court sentenced six convicts to death and nine to life in prison in a ruling on Monday evening.
One convict was sentenced to five years in prison, while 72 convicts were sentenced to two years in prison.
The court also acquitted one accused in the case.
The accused were indicted on March 12. The court heard the case on a daily basis and completed the trial within a month.
A five-member prosecution team led by Senior Special Prosecutor Abdul Rauf Wattoo completed the trial. The prosecution made 46 eyewitnesses part of the challan.
Police also made footage from 10 CCTV cameras part of the challan. Videos from the five suspects' mobile phones were also recorded.
The prosecution filed challans against 89 accused. According to the challan, 80 accused are adults and 9 are minors.
In December last year, workers at a private factory on Wazirabad Road in Sialkot tortured and killed a Sri Lankan factory manager for blasphemy and set his body on fire.
